Classical Training for all types of Singing

My thoughts on teaching: I have had several excellent and inspirational teachers during my life. Those teachers combined a passion for what they did, an extensive amount of knowledge of their subject and most importantly I think, an ability to communicate that passion and knowledge in an inspirational yet direct and clear manner. In my career as a teacher, I try to bring that passion, knowledge and the ability to communicate it to each and every student. The study of voice is complex, technical and in truth can be confusing. It is my job to take this complicated subject, distill it and make it completely understandable to all my students, whether 8 or 48. Each student is different and learns differently. It is my job to identify how the student learns and then address it.

My teaching objectives: If you read “Our Vision”, then you know how I feel about the study of Music and the importance of it in our lives. On a more specific note, I am a classically trained singer. I use time honored and proven classical techniques to properly train students, no matter what kind of music they will be singing. This way I know, that if they adhere to what I teach, they will have the skills to sing correctly and healthily for a lifetime! I feel it is also important to give students a safe and nurturing environment in which to test their wings. This environment is essential for steady and consistent improvement. Improvement brings mastery of the material and with that mastery comes an increase in self-confidence. An individual strategy must be developed for each student so we can set goals that will increase confidence and stretch their abilities at a pace they are comfortable with. I, as a teacher, am committed to these principles and will work diligently with students to take them as far as they wish to go!
